North Salem, NY 10560

North Salem is a town on the northern Westchester County line that borders Putnam County and Connecticut to the east.
North Salem’s main recreational activity is horseback riding. The largest horse farm is the Old Salem Farm, which still hosts national equestrian competitions.
The town only has one major park, the 16 acre Bohdrum Field which has a playground, tennis courts, and baseball and soccer fields.
The biggest public recreation space is the county-owned 1000 acre Mountain Lakes Camp which has lake swimming, ice skating, fishing, cross-country skiing, hiking and camping.
Driving around North Salem is to encounter vistas of uninterrupted views of rolling countryside, post and rail fences, horse corrals and occasional cows. In certain areas you can see as far as the foothills of the Catskill Mountains.
On some days, you may see residents riding to the hounds and chasing foxes across open fields with the Goldens Bridge Hounds, the only remaining hunt club in Westchester.
The town of North Salem is run by a supervisor and 4 Councilmen.
Pequenakonck Elementary School serves approx. 600 children in grades K-5.
The North Salem Middle/High School campus provides a state-of-the-art education for children in grades 6-12.
