I think the following message from the Mayor of Peekskill, Mary Foster, puts in focus the character and local flavor of the City of Peekskill: 

We want everyone in Peekskill to feel welcome at City Hall, welcome not only to watch your government in action, but also to participate in the decisions that affect us all. We understand you're busy and can't always get to meetings, so we've created a virtual front-row seat for you at City Hall. We are now video-streaming our meetings online. Feel free to click on the video-streaming tab to view Common Council meetings and work sessions. We are also doing our best to stream other important public meetings.

 

The City of Peekskill offers something for every resident and visitor: a broad array of dining choices and a growing collection of unique, owner-operated shops. Combine a show at the freshly restored Paramount Center for the Arts with dinner at one of our fine restaurants or choose one of several restaurants that offer live music from swing to salsa. Lunch plus shopping or a walk around our historic areas is always a good bet. Our artists' district with its galleries and Open Studio events and the Fort Hill Historic District filled with restored Queen Anne and other 19^th and early 20^th century homes are waiting for you to discover them. On summer and fall weekends don't forget our farmer's market on Saturday and flea market on Sunday. 

 

We are blessed with one of the most scenic public parks anywhere along the Hudson River, on Peekskill Bay with lovely views of the western shore and the mountains beyond. Bring the kids, bring a picnic, bring your kayak, or just bring a good book. Walk the Annsville trail along the river from the northern end of our city through Peekskill Landing and Riverfront Green, and soon all the way to China Pier and points south.
